Members of the planning committee approved the proposals on Tuesday, which means the Three Mariners can now develop the front of the pub, in Bridge Lane.

The site is currently vacant and grassed over. Timber tables and benches will be added to the area, along with a wooden fence.

Access for wheelchairs will be provided and staff trained to help when necessary.

The pub already has five existing picnic benches directly outside the entrance, and it is expected that the new seating area will accommodate a

maximum of 40 people over 10 new picnic benches.

The area is likely to operate between the hours of 11am and 10pm.
