MP's visit highlights good work of Morecambe training centre

Morecambe and Lunesdale David Morris visited PHX Training and PHX Jobmatch to see the work they do in securing employment for the people of Morecambe.

Mr Morris toured the office and met with a group of people attending an IT course, all of which are funded by the government, at no cost to the candidates.

He was welcomed to the centre by Dave McDermot, centre manager, Michael Glen, recruitment and development manager, John Speight, tutor, and Hollie Huntress, receptionist.

Centre manager Michael Glen said: “We were delighted that David Morris took time out to come along and see for himself exactly what PHX Training and PHX Jobmatch do for our clients throughout our centres.”

Mr Morris said: “I was delighted to be invited to PHX to see for myself the amazing work they do to give jobseekers the skills they need to submit a job application and deal with basic ICT.

“It is easy to forget that not everyone has skills in ICT and not having those skills can be a huge barrier to employment.

“I was really impressed with the work PHX were carrying out to give people in Morecambe the skills they need to gain employment.”
