Year 7 pupils at Lancaster Royal Grammar School came second in the recent regional finals of the UK Maths Team Challenge.

This year LRGS hosted the event, with pupils from 30 schools across the north west participating.

Lancaster Girls’ Grammar School came first and Hodgson Academy came third.

The competition has been running since 2003 and boys from LRGS have enthusiastically taken part from the start.

The competition combines mathematical, communication and teamwork skills and offers pupils another way to express and develop their enjoyment of mathematics.

LRGS has finished in the top three every year and has also gone through to the finals, which are held in London, several times.
