A MAN who was injured in a road accident has died in hospital.

Peter Kellett, 68, of Lancaster, suffered head injuries after being hit by a car between Durham Avenue and Wakefield Drive in Lancaster on December 4.

He had been in a serious condition at Royal Preston Hsopital.

Lancaster was gridlocked following as many as three accidents around the same time on December 4.

A police motorcyclist, believed to be responding to the incident involving Mr Kellet, was thrown off his bike after a collision with a car at 5.07pm at the traffic lights outside Lancaster Town Hall.

The biker was taken to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

Dalton Square was closed off to traffic with eyewitness reports in the area saying roads around the one-way system were gridlocked.

A cyclist was hit by a car in third incident, also on Barton Road, near the junction with Wakefield Drive at 4.58pm.

The cyclist’s injuries were not believed to be serious.
