A 23-year-old man has died after being hit by a train near Lancaster.

British Transport Police (BTP) officers were called to the line between Yealand and Burton-in-Kendal close to Cinderbarrow Lane on Monday, May 19, after reports of a person hit by a train.

A spokesman said: “Officers from BTP and Lancashire Constabulary attended the incident, which was reported to BTP at 10.29pm and is currently being treated as non-suspicious.

“Medics from the North West Ambulance Service also attended but a 23-year-old man from the local area was pronounced dead at the scene.

“The man’s family has been informed.

“A file will be prepared for the coroner.”
