The Lancaster Guardian and BiG Storage Toy Appeal this week took time out to visit one of the charities who benefit from your fantastic donations, and ended up getting involved in a BiG way to help.
The Children’s Adventure Farm Trust (CAFT) caters for children across the north west all year round and provides a welcome break for children and carers who otherwise may not be able to have a holiday.
However, for six weeks a year the various buildings turn into a Santa’s grotto with activities and games, reindeers, Christmas characters and of course Father Christmas on hand to give out your presents to those who need them most, the disadvantaged or disabled children in our area.
Paul Whittaker, BiG Storage Toy Appeal co-ordinator, said: “When asked to put on a giant 7ft foam Christmas tree I wondered what I had let myself in for.
“However, when we all saw how much it meant to the children, I knew it was worth every sweaty, claustrophobic minute and it just reiterated to me how important this appeal is to those in OUR community and it certainly left me with a tear in my eye.
“Please, if you can, give to the BiG appeal as your generosity will really make a difference this Christmas.”
Alongside CAFT, the appeal’s chosen charities include Unique Kidz & Co and CAPSS (Children and Parent Support Service.
BiG Storage is located in Northgate, White Lund, Morecambe, and can be contacted on 01524 65272. The branch is open 8am to 6pm Monday to Friday and 9am to 3pm on Saturdays. Please remember gifts need to be new and boxed.
