Group of VIP guests take a trip to Lancaster Castle.

Group of VIP guests take a trip to Lancaster Castle.

Lancaster Castle hosted a group of VIP guests, including the leader of the House of Lords, on a recent familiarisation visit.

The guests were shown round the castle and briefed about its significance, both historically and as a landmark for tourists today and into the future.

The visiting party included the Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster, Lord Hill of Oareford, (pictured centre) who is also Leader of the House of Lords.

Also present (from left) were Mark Cullinan, chief executive of Lancaster City Council, Nathan Thompson, chief executive of the Duchy of Lancaster, Lord Shuttleworth, Lord Lieutenant of Lancashire and Prof Andrew Atherton, Deputy Vice-Chancellor of Lancaster University.
