Grandad, 80, completes cross bay run for charity

The oldest runner ever to take part in a cross bay run was among those who joined in an event raising money for CancerCare at the weekend.

Grandfather-of-nine Peter Ellison, 80, was presented with a special trophy after completing the charity run on Sunday.

The keen runner, who lives in Carnforth, said his seventh cross bay run was “tough going”.

He said: “It was very hard; there was a lot more water than usual and it got very windy out in the bay. It took me more than three hours but I made it. My legs were a bit stiff afterwards but I am not too bad, and it was a good day out.”
