Garstang teenager Adam Phillips played the final seven minutes of the match as Liverpool beat Preston 2-1 in a pre-season friendly at Deepdale on Saturday.
The 16-year-old midfielder had only made his senior debut for the Reds three days earlier in a match against Brondby in Denmark.
Phillips joined the Liverpool Academy at the age of 11 after three years with Blackburn Rovers.
He has since signed a two-year scholarship with Liverpool FC Under 18s.
Phillips also joined a squad which travelled to Boston yesterday, Sunday, for a short tour before the start of the new Premier League season.
