Two men have raised more than £1,000 for the North West Air Ambulance through taking part in an epic ski challenge.

Phil Thornton of Slyne and his friend Chris Humphreys of Kirkby Lonsdale took part in a famous ski race in Switzerland.

Retired Regimental Sergeant Major Chris, 56, who used to ski race for the army in his youth, and 53-year-old Phil, who works at BAE Systems at Warton, decided that they would draw up a “bucket list” of activities to get started on.

The men challenged themselves to undertake the world famous longest ski race “The Inferno” at Murren in Switzerland and decided to raise some funds for charity in the process.

Both successfully completed the race and hope to return next year to take part again.
