Innovative north Lancashire carers have scooped a prestigious award for their trailblazing work with dementia sufferers.

TV presenter Esther Rantzen, founder of the Lancashire-based befriending helpline for older people The Silver Line, presented Morecambe care manager Philip McDonald and Forton nursing home deputy matron Laura Bibby with the accolade at a special ceremony in the Preston.

The care industry gongs, organised by the Lancashire Workforce Development Partnership, were handed to the pair for their pioneering approaches in dealing with dementia patients utilising the latest training and development initiatives.
