Crane breaks down on M6

Latest news.

Latest news.

A crane broke down bringing traffic chaos to the M6 near Junction 34 this morning.

The crane travelling northbound suffered a puncture and electrical failure and came to rest in the hard shoulder just beyond the end of the entry slip at around 7.25am on Thursday.

The slip temporarily closed to prevent accidents and drivers were told to join the northbound M6 at alternative junctions or use the southbound entry slip road to travel down junction 33 and join the northbound carriageway from there.

A spokesman for the Highways Agency said they were working to re-open the slip road as soon as possible.
