A fantastic £32,500 was raised for CancerCare at its Diamonds and Pearls Spring Ball which marked the charity’s 30th anniversary.

A live auction on the night, with prizes under the hammer including a half carat diamond ring and a pair of Cartier Pearl earrings, helped boost the total raised at the Morecambe Midland Hotel event, on Friday.

Guests enjoyed a champagne reception, three-course dinner and live music from local soul band, The Groove Cutters.

Professor McIllmurray – a local doctor who founded the charity back in 1983 – and CancerCare Patron Lady Anne Shuttleworth attended.

Main sponsors were FGH Security and Lakeland Ltd who presented a £15,000 cheque to the charity.
