Learn about beekeeping

LANCASTER Beekeepers are giving people the chance of finding out a little more of what’s involved in beekeeping and why honey bees are important through a safely supervised, hands on afternoon with experienced bee keepers.

An Afternoon with Bees is being held on Tuesday August 9 and Thursday August 18 from 2pm – 4pm at the club apiary in Hyning Road, Yealand Conyers.

The afternoon will offer participants the chance to find out how an apiary works, learn about the life and work of honey bees and explore what goes on in their world.

They will be kitted out in protective clothing to inspect a hive and see how the worker bees go about their jobs, looking after the queen, feeding the young and storing honey.
