A daytime TV chat with Phillip Schofield, Holly Willoughby and Rylan Clark was the latest chapter in the story of Paul Akister’s rise to singing stardom.
Hot on the heels of reaching the next round of The X Factor, the Lancaster soul man made a Monday appearance on ITV show This Morning.
Sitting on the famous sofa, Paul was interviewed by the three presenters about his experiences on the Saturday night talent show.
After wowing the judges with his rendition of Marvin Gaye’s ‘Let’s Get It On’ at Wembley Arena, 25-year-old Akister has been quoted by some bookmakers as 9/2 favourite to win the show outright.
His return to The X Factor has also been a source of friction between head judge Simon Cowell and Louis Walsh, who ousted Paul from last year’s programme at the Judges Houses stage. But when asked on This Morning if he held any grudges against Louis, Paul said: “No, I kind of get where he was coming from. It has made me a better person.
“I’ve come back a bit more confident. It would be cool to get Louis as a mentor again so I can show him.”
Paul has also received tweets of support from last year’s winner, Sam Bailey.
