A Lancaster actress who will appear in the new series of Downton Abbey is to perform a one woman show at The Dukes in October.
Christine Mackie plays a mother in both the hit ITV1 costume drama and Hi Vis which runs at The Dukes from October 13-15.
But the roles couldn’t be more different.
In Downton Abbey, Christine appears in two episodes in October and the Christmas special as the mother of a soldier injured in World War One.
Her son is taken to Downton which becomes a convalescent hospital during the war and she visits later when some secrets are revealed.
Christine’s ‘husband’ in the TV drama is Kevin McNally, just one of a starstudded cast.
“My first scene was a very daunting experience,” said Christine. “I was sitting with Hugh Bonneville, Penelope Wilton and Iain Glen but everyone was lovely and I’m really happy to be associated with the show.”
Christine is also currently filming in Galway for a new ITV children’s series called My Phone Genie where she plays a teacher.
“It’s been a busy time. When I’ve been filming, I’ve also been relearning the script for Hi Vis,” said Christine who, with her husband James, has also run Mackies interior decoration in Lancaster for 10 years.”
