LANCASHIRE soprano Amanda Roocroft, a regular at the Royal Opera House in Covent Garden, Glyndebourne and the English National Opera, is performing in Lancaster next month.
The opera star is returning to her northern roots in November when she will sing The End of the Affair at the Great Hall at Lancaster University.
The piece involves her performing 30 songs from numerous composers including Brahms, Britten and Kurt Weill , that charts a love affair from one woman’s point of view.
She said: “There’s a lot of singing involved in terms of stamina.
“But I relish performing in front of northern audiences. They appreciate music in a different way, from the soul, less cerebrally. It’s lovely to be working up north. I feel I am coming home.”
