They included the Queen of Hearts, the Mad Hatter and Alice herself.

The free Easter event took place in an Alice-themed setting with activities including the famous teacups, a game of the Queen’s favourite croquet and also card games.

Children also enjoyed petting farmyard animals in a mini farm in Dalton Square on Easter Monday and there was also a face painter.

The free event was organised by Lancaster BID.

A spokesman said: “It was a good weekend. Friday was really busy. Monday was OK but the weather didn’t help.

“There were hundreds of visitors over the two events and over 80 faces painted over the two days!”

Winners of the Easter raffle were Susan Lawson, who won tickets to The Dukes’ play in Williamson Park this year ‘The Hobbit’, Jade Hodgekiss who won tickets to ‘Life of Riley’ at the Grand and Rachel Winstone who won an Easter bundle.

The Mini Farm colouring competition was won by Minnie Stephenson.
