There have been delays to the opening of the store which was originally due to open early in 2015.

Work on fitting out the new Primark began in early April.

A Primark spokesman said: “We look forward to opening a new Primark store in Lancaster and offering amazing fashion at amazing prices for all the family.”

A time capsule was recently buried at the centre to mark the opening of Primark. The capsule, to be opened in 2066, contained group photographs of retailers, donated items and newspapers from that day.

Primark first opened in 1969 in Dublin, Ireland and has 161 stores across the UK.
