The annual appeal raised £24,000 last year and this year’s service was held at the Winter Gardens in Morecambe.

Unfortunately, due to the flooding, the service at Kendal parish church on Monday December 7 had to be cancelled.

Howeve,r the Slyne Road hospice has said they will hold the Kendal service on Monday January 18 2016 instead.

The service featured carols by the hospice choir at Morecambe and a selection of poems read by St John’s Hospice staff.
