Would-be cash machine thieves flee emptyhanded

THIEVES tried to pull a cash machine from a wall using a car but fled emptyhanded.

Police said the ATM at the Spar Shop on Slyne Road in Lancaster was targeted on February 17 at 4am.

DC Sue Palmer from Lancaster CID said: “This is a serious offence that has happened on a main road through Lancaster so I am convinced

that someone will have seen something.

“Fortunately the offenders fled empty handed but considerable damage has been caused and I would appeal to anybody that thinks they may have witnessed

the actual incident, or with any information about the people responsible to come forward.

“I would also urge anybody that has witnessed any suspicious activity in and around the cash point in the last few days or weeks to come forward and

contact Lancashire Police on 101.”
