Is it inevitable that Lancaster University and the city will eventually join up in one built up area?

What do you think?

Considering there is an enormous swathe of brown field land - aka Williamsons, crying out for this sort of development - it's folly for the universitycouncil to just dig up more fields whenever it wants. Build a new link road round the SW of Lancaster if they want to get there quickly - but use what we've got instead of concreting over what we'll never get back. Besides - If WilliamsonsSt George's Quay became offices and research buildings, the traffic generated could well be less than the 400 odd houses they want to put there.

As far as I have known, the city has been host to many students in University run accommodations by the Canal not to mention the Sugar House and probably other buildings that I do not know about?? Is this reference to the couple of fields that lay on the A6?!
