Morecambe escapes worst weather

Whilst the rest of the country was covered in a blanket of snow Morecambe was one of the few areas unaffected by heavy snowfall.

Whilst the rest of the country was covered in a blanket of snow Morecambe was one of the few areas unaffected by heavy snowfall.

WHILST the rest of the UK has almost ground to a halt due to snow and ice, Morecambe and Lancaster seems to have escaped the worst of the weather.

The freezing temperatures and icy conditions are once again causing delays and disruption in other parts of the UK, with more than 3,000 schools shut and motorists being urged to take extra time and care on roads.

As much as 10 to 20cm (four to eight inches) of snow is expected across Scotland and northern England, prompting the Met Office to issue amber warnings which urge the public to be prepared.

There is also another day of snow and ice-related delays and cancellations on the country’s rail network.

At Heathrow Airport planes have been grounded for a fourth day and passengers were advised to check the status of their flights before travelling to the airport.

The Met Office five day forecast shows there is no snow expected in Morecambe.

However, North West England has been issued with an Amber alert, which means people should be prepared for snow and ice.
