A 40-year-old appeared in court this morning, Friday, charged with the murder of a 55-year-old man in Morecambe.

Christopher Kearns, from Marine Road East, Morecambe, appeared before Lancaster Magistrates’ Court.

He did not enter a plea and was remanded in custody, to appear at Preston Crown Court on Monday, November 19.

Kearns is charged in connection with an alleged incident in the Queen Street area of Morecambe on November 5 in which Paul Ormerod, from Lancaster, was left injured.

Mr Ormerod died in hospital overnight between Wednesday night and yesterday morning, police said.

Specialist officers are supporting his family.
