Latest on Lancaster Islamic girls’ school arrests
Police activity on Monday morning around the muslim girls' school in Lancaster. Jamea Al Kauthar.
Two men have been bailed and a third released without charge following an incident at the Jamea Al Kauthar Islamic School for Girls in Lancaster.
Police arrested three men on suspicion of false imprisonment and sexual assault on Sunday, after receiving a call about an incident involving a “small group of teenage girls” in the grounds of the private school in Ashton Road.
The incident is alleged to have taken place on Tuesday, March 12, and up to 40 police officers surrounded the school on Saturday evening.
A 40-year-old man from Bolton and a 30-year-old man from Blackburn, who were arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and false imprisonment, are now on police bail.
A 53-year-old man from Blackburn, who was arrested on suspicion of false imprisonment, has been released without charge.
Supt Andy Webster, who is leading the investigation, said that a dedicated phone line had been set up for concerned families.
