It’s all growing so well

A NEW community venture for parents and their young children has opened its doors in the city centre.

Grown-Ups & Growing-Ups is being held on Tuesdays at King’s Community Church in Phoenix Street.Group co-ordinator Julia Palmer, currently expecting her second child, said: “Being a parent or carer has the potential to be a lonely and challenging experience, but it also has the potential to be full of fun and friendship.

“It can be one of the most rewarding and exciting times in life, and this positive experience is exactly what Grown-Ups & Growing-Ups seeks to encourage. It’s also why I’m so excited about the venture.”

The venue for the group is the main hall of King’s Community Church, which was refurbished last year to give a spacious, clean and safe environment to take children to.

Julia said: “There is nothing overtly ‘religious’ about the activities that will take place, but the whole ethos of the group is underpinned by our Christian values of love and respect for everyone who comes through the door.”

To coincide with the launch of the group, Community Cinemas will be at the venue on October 30 for a 4pm showing of Toy Story 3.

Tickets can be bought from the church on 01524 388490 (adults £3, children £2; family tickets £10).

Grown-Ups & Growing-Ups will be held at the King’s
Community Church from 10-11.30am on term-time
Tuesdays.
