Cyclist breaks ribs in collision with van

A cyclist suffered several broken ribs and a collapsed lung after a collision with a van on Sunday.

The 35-year-old man from Lancaster was thrown from his bike and into an adjacent field after the incident with the Vauxhall Combo 200 on Langthwaite Road, Quernmore at 8.20am.

He also suffered bruising and grazing and is being treated at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.

The road was closed for three hours while the investigation took place.

Police are appealing for witnesses and anyone with information should call police on 101.

*A man has been arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and is currently on police bail until April 10.
