Criminals targeted in burglary blitz operation

SOME of Lancaster and Morecambe's most prolific burglars will be targeted as part of a high profile operation launched in Lancaster today, Thursday.

The district will be flooded with officers from across Lancashire who will use various tactics to disrupt the activities of criminals and address issues surrounding burglary.

Police dogs, mounted officers and operational support units will all be dedicated to carrying out high profile activity as part of 'Operation Julius' , a countywide campaign to reduce burglary.

Neighbourhood Policing Officers will also provide a highly visible presence across the area to reassure people and tackle community concerns.

DCI Neil Gregson said: "My message to those who persistently commit burglaries is simple.

"You are not welcome in Lancashire and if you come here to commit crime, we will target you and endeavour to bring you to justice."

Anyone with any information or is concerned about crime in their neighbourhood, should contact police on 0845 1 25 35 45 or Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.
