Comedian John Bishop back in Lancaster

Comedian John Bishop is back in Lancaster filming a new ITV comedy about life behind the scenes at a pantomime.

The Scouse favourite and other cast members are shooting scenes this week at locations including the Grand Theatre and The Bay radio station.

This is Bishop’s second visit to the city this year, following his unscheduled gig at The Borough pub in April.

Other celebrities appearing in ‘Panto’ include actress Sheridan Smith from Gavin and Stacey and Two Pints of Lager and a Packet of Crisps, and 1990s pop star Chesney Hawkes.

Bishop devised and co-wrote the one-off film, scheduled to be shown on Boxing Day.

He plays Lewis Loud, the cheeky radio DJ of fictitious station ‘Morecambe FM’.

The film follows Lewis as he prepares to play Dick Whittington in panto at the Grand Theatre and romance blossoms with his co-star Smith, only for chaos and egos to get in the way.
