Booths set to unveil plans for new store
BOOTHS will unveil plans for its proposed new store in Scotforth at a public exhibition from Tuesday to Thursday.
The event will display plans for the Lawson's Bridge site on the west side of the A6, immediately to the south of Ray's Drive.
Local people and neighbouring businesses are being encouraged to attend the open exhibition, where members of the Booths team will answer any questions about the proposed development.
The company has been looking at ways to expand its current offering at Scotforth for some time, but has been unable to do so due to constraints of the site.
The exhibition will take place at Rowley Court, Scotforth, opposite the existing Booths store in Hala Road, Lancaster, from 10am-7pm.
Meanwhile, a decision is still being awaited from a public inquiry into whether to designate the land as a town green.
Campaigners claimed the site, part-owned by Lancaster City Council, had been used by locals for the last 20 years.
However, farmer David Townley, who was granted squatters' rights to the 13 acres of land in 2004, argued that this was not the case.
Mr Townley has a deal to sell the land, formerly valued at 6.5 million, to Commercial Estates Group to create a supermarket, and the city council have a deal with Booths supermarket for their section of the land.
