“I spoke to Oritse on my breakfast show on Friday, and he’s so looking forward to appearing on The Bay Stage this weekend for the lights switch on,” said Danny Matthews from The Bay Radio.

“He’s been working on new material and he’s agreed to perform his new solo single for us in Market Square.”

The Christmas lights will be switched on at 5pm, and the stage show will end at around 6pm. There will be entertainment from 2.30pm on the day on The Bay Stage.

The line-up also includes Kevin Simm, a former Liberty X band member who went on to win BBC talent show The Voice, Lancaster’s own soul man, Paul Akister, who was an X Factor finalist in 2014, British boy band Road Trip, Thomas Teago featuring Fazer (from N Dubz), Jack Morlen, local band Lancaster Bombers, Morecambe singer Stuart Michaels and Stagecoach Theatre School in Lancaster.

Joining Five and Ortise for the switch on will also be Scott Durant, a Lancaster Olympian who won gold at Rio, Santa and one of the children who has raised the most for CancerCare in their annual Santa Dash.

The Santa dash will take place through the city centre streets, with Christmas reindeer and Santa’s sleigh in Sun Square from 12-3pm and The Bay Radio stage show in Market Square.

Around 10,000 people attended last year’s switch on which saw headliners the former Bucks Fizz and Lemar perform.
