Heysham power stations will showcase a science day this weekend in partnership with Lancaster University.
EDF Energy’s stations will host science activities and workshops on Saturday March 21.
The stations’ Visitor Centre will stage experiments during the day and those attending can get some science-based giveaways. Staff and students from Lancaster University’s science and engineering departments will show those at the event the latest in 3D printing, how rainbows work, and give them an introduction to particle physics.
The event, which is free, runs from 10am – 2pm and people can drop in with their families throughout the day.
To find out more about the event, contact Donna Diamond, visitor centre supervisor, at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Dr Alan Darragh, of Lancaster University, said: “This is a great opportunity to collaborate with one of the area’s biggest employers.
“We can showcase our science technology, engineering and maths research and disciplines to a wide variety of people, and also build links with the local community.
“We hope the event will mark the start of a long term partnership.”
