Help catch fly-tippers

Fly tipping off the A65 at Cow Brow, Lupton.

FLY-tippers have dumped a pile of used tyres on a country lane.

Approximately 60 tyres were dumped on the lane leading past Tavern Cottage towards Hollins Farm off the A65 at Cow Brow, Lupton, between 10pm on Tuesday, February 14, and 8am the following day.

The Environment Agency and South Lakeland District Council (SLDC) are appealing for information to identify the offenders.

They believe that due to the quantity of tyres involved, a local garage or tyre – fitting business may be responsible.

The tyres will be removed by the council and disposed of correctly after all investigations have been carried out.

The council is asking people to contact the SLDC Contact Centre on 0845 050 4434, if they have any information about the illegally-dumped tyres.

Officers prosecute those responsible, if evidence is found.
