Patients can now see for themselves how many nurses are on duty at the Royal Lancaster Infirmary.
The information will be published on new ‘ward boards’ outside all adult inpatient wards as part of a commitment by the University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS Foundation Trust to be open and transparent.
Figures show current nurse staffing levels at the RLI range between 97 per cent and 101 per cent of the Trust’s target. A spokesman for the trust said any shortfalls were caused by sickness absence and opening contingency beds at times of high patient demand.
He said recruitment of nurses was ongoing.
