Hospital trust seeks views on protecting the vulnerable

Latest news.

Latest news.

A series of workshops are being held in June to listen to patients, carers and families’ views on the Mental Capacity Act.

University Hospitals of Morecambe Bay NHS FoundationTrust is developing a strategy to ensure that the Trust protects anyone from harm who may be vulnerable if they lack the capacity to look after themselves. The Mental Capacity Act includes standards on the “Deprivation of Liberty Safeguards” (DOLS).

This is for people who lack the capacity to consent to particular treatment or care that is recognised by others as being in their best interests, or which will protect them from harm. Where this care might involve depriving vulnerable people of their liberty in either a hospital or a care home, extra safeguards have been introduced, in law, to protect their rights and ensure that care or treatment they receive is in their best interests.

Workshops are being held on June 12, 2pm to 4pm and 6pm to 8pm at The Sanctuary at Lancaster Library.
