Pupils from Ripley St Thomas used their entrepreneurial skills to generate money for charity.

Year 8 pupils were given £1 each and, together, raised over £4,000 which was distributed between a variety of local and national charities chosen by the pupils.

Top fundraiser was Kate Ayton, who raised a fantastic £1,300 by organising a sponsored bike ride.

A cheque for £1,800 was presented to St John’s Hospice.

Hospice fundraiser Anna Scott said: “I am amazed at the variety of fundraising ideas that the pupils have come up with to raise such a fantastic amount for lots of worthwhile causes.

“We are extremely grateful that so many of the Year 8 students chose to support St John’s Hospice with their fundraising.

“If Sir Alan Sugar is looking for a new apprentice, he should head to Ripley!”
