We are very excited to launch the Save Our Hospice campaign today. Working alongside our sister newspaper The Visitor, we aim to raise half a million pounds to tackle the deficit at St John’s – and ensure the hospice’s existence for future generations.

If you need any persuasion, read little Millicent and Polly-Jean’s story and find out how it touched their lives.

But you don’t have to throw the net wide to find somebody whose life has been impacted by the amazing work done by hospice staff and volunteers both at the Slyne Road base and out in the community and in people’s homes. Please support us and get involved.

We are launching with a bang at the fireworks event in Lancaster on Saturday at the Giant Axe football stadium. Come down talk to us to find out more. But if you can’t be there, please get baking.

We want to encourage as many people, workplaces and schools to hold a Festive Cake Bake in the first week of December to raise as much money as possible in a pre Christmas push.

We also want to hear from you and lift the lid on the real stories from St John’s. Please get in touch with reporter Adam Lord at adam.lord@jpress.co.uk.

Thank you so much – and happy cake baking!
