During her recent visit to Lancaster, leader of the national Green Party Natalie Bennett found time to pop into Changing Places, an organisation which campaigns to have proper changing facilities for disabled people.

Changing Places hosted an awareness day which highlighted the sad lack of public facilities for the severely disabled to enable them to be changed with the dignity they deserve, without having to lie on a dirty toilet floor.

Natalie said: “There are few issues that are more important in politics than preserving people’s dignity and enabling them to participate fully and equally in society.”

Natalie also visited Cornerstone in Dalton Square, which hosted an exhibition of work by disabled artists, courtesy of Outrageous Ambition, and was treated to a performance by students from Beaumont College.
