Golf: Heap confirmed as new Morecambe captain

Jim, a member for more than 30-years, was confirmed as captain at the club’s annual general meeting when he told members that his appointment was the fulfilment of a long time ambition.

During his time at Morecambe Golf Club he has served on various committees, helped run the juniors as well as many of the competitions.

Carlisle born Jim has been a keen sportsman, playing football and cricket before taking up football refereeing and then golf.

At the annual meeting he said he was looking forward to his period in office, before he paid tribute to retiring captain, Paul Halpin.
