There will be a free local history talk on The 1884 franchise (vote) demonstrations in the Lancaster area on Tuesday, November 26 at the Friends Meeting House, Lancaster, given as part of Global Link’s Documenting Dissent project.

Historian Dr Mark Nixon will give a lecture exploring North Lancashire’s radical political activism in the late 19th century, which included a major series of political demonstrations, demanding the vote for working class men (and sometimes women) and often also the abolition of the House of Lords (and, indeed, Lords).
