WOULD-BE potters of all ages are invited to a week of activities celebrating all things ceramic.
Wyn Abbot, who runs The Pottery studio and workshop at Greenlands Farm Village near Burton-in-Kendal, is hosting a series of events to mark the first ever National Ceramics Week.
From Saturday, April 30 to Sunday, May 8, visitors can try their hand at making a pot on the wheel, take part in a gargoyle-making workshop and see a silver clay jewellery demonstration.
“I want people to see that craftmanship is still around, because we live in such a mass-produced society,” said mother of three Wyn.
“I also want people to see what ceramics actually is. We use it every day without thinking about it, from a morning cuppa to tiles in our bathrooms.”
Events will include a display of sculptures from the Children’s Pottery Club, which Wyn runs at The Pottery every Saturday, and a preview of her own exhibition, Spirit of the Earth.
