A new vintage tearoom and craft shop has opened in a former pub.

Sitting Pretty vintage tearoom and craft shop in Galgate, in what was for many years The Green Dragon, is the brainchild of friends Vicky Winstanley and Ellie Garnock-Jones.

Eight weeks before they opened the planning began and now the business is up and running.

Ellie, whois now the license holder and was formerly the landlady of the pub said: “My grandad ran a bakery and Vicky’s dad was an interior designer.

“Vicky was running craft fairs so when the business came up it was a natural progression to combine all of these things we are passionate about and put them all into one package.

“We wanted the eclectic emphasis and to make people comfortable , relaxed and take the pressure off.”

Vicky said: “There were plenty of sleepless nights as we set ourselves a four week deadline. We did the work ourselves to our own design but it worked out pretty well.”

The tearoom has upcycled furniture, serves tea, coffee and homemade cakes and has an extensive food menu.

Crafts made by local people including jewellery, cards, books are displayed for free in the tearoom and can be bought.

Girl power must reign in Galgate as Vicky and Ellie have also set up Galgate Gals WI and are appealing for new members.

The women meet on the third Sunday of each month in the village hall between 2pm and 4pm.

Ellie said: “We want to bring the community back together.”
