Morecambe was the place to be on Saturday night as a crowd of 700 visited for a Halloween night to remember.

Partygoers dressed as ghouls, witches and even unicorns hurried towards the Winter Gardens for Escape’s Haunted House Party.

Organisers had to turn people away at the door as some tried to get into the sell-out party.

The night saw party-goers dancing to dance music from the 90s to the present day.

“It was absolutely brilliant, everything went really well and we received some great feedback,” said Morecambe DJ Matt Thiss, one of the Escape organisers who also played on the night.

“It just shows when you work hard to put something on, that’s a bit different, people are always up for coming along.

“There’s not a lot about in Morecambe and we’d like to think we’ve helped bring something to the town.”

The night saw renowned DJs take to the theatre stage and fire breathers, from Lamour Entertainments, showing off their skills.

Kicking off the event at 8pm was DJ Ginner followed by Ollie Seddon, Mat:Tu, Josh Lee, Matt Thiss, Yousef, Hot Like Detroit and Dave Lee.

Some partygoers travelled from across the country to witness the resort’s iconic theatre turn into a house party hub for one night only.

“We have had messages from people out of town who want to come back,” said Matt.

“People visited from all over the country, Birmingham, Carlisle, everywhere.

“There was just under 700 people that came, that was the capacity the Winter Gardens gave us, we could have got even more in but fire regulations restricted us.”

Summer Jenkins, one of the organisers, also made her Morecambe debut, DJing for the first time in front of hundreds.

The party ran on until 4am and the team finished up by celebrating with a drink with the Winter Gardens team and volunteers.

“The Winter Gardens team were really pleased and we stayed behind and had a drink, hopefully we will be working with them a lot in the future,” said Matt.

Escape would like to thank Winter Gardens staff, Lingwood Security and everyone involved. The Escape team will be holding a similar event on Saturday December 31, details to be announced soon.
