BOYS climb trees, fact. But 11-year-old Jordan Dean’s shin up the bark could have ended in tragedy if it wasn’t for his quick thinking friends knowing what to do in an emergency situation.
Lancaster, was doing what any normal pre-teen does on a sunny afternoon after school – playing man-on with three friends not far away from home. But fun turned to fright when Jordan fell 20ft from the tree at Lune Road Cricket Club, landing first on his hip and then bouncing forward onto his head, knocking himself out in front of his horrified friends.
Kane Jolly, 11, from Cedar Road, said he and his friends Kie Carter and Chloe Roberts were shocked when they witnessed Jordan’s fall.
“We were playing man on and we shouted Jordan that he’s won, and next thing we see Jordan fall out of the tree,” he said.
“It was really high up and we were proper shocked, but we stayed calm.
“My mate Kie took his shirt off, and I took my cardigan off, and we wrapped them round his head which was bleeding really bad.
“There was blood all over his tee-shirt and his trainers, and he wasn’t happy about having blood on his trainers.
“We ran for help, and we went to a friend’s dad’s, who said he needs to go to hospital.
“When he fell out of the tree I got upset because he’s my best mate and we thought he was dead.”
