Fire crews save woman from bedroom blaze

AN elderly woman had to be revived by firefighters after a blaze at her Lancaster home.

Mary Edwards was found collapsed on the landing of the mid-terrace property in Railway Street.

The 74-year-old was rushed to the Royal Lancaster Infirmary (RLI) in a critical conditon, having suffered smoke inhalation.

Fire crews from Lancaster were called to the scene at 11.35am on Thursday, December 15, after a woman at a house in Ashton Road spotted plumes of smoke from her back window.

Her brother and another man rushed to the house.
