Twins Appeal hits £80,000

An appeal to help disabled Lancaster twins Katie and Emma Sutcliffe to walk unaided has broken through the £80,000 barrier.
Katie and Emma suffer from spastic diplegic cerebral palsy and need wheelchairs to get around.
Backed by the Guardian, the 16-year-olds are aiming to raise £85,000 to pay for specialist treatment in America which could see them walk unaided for the first time.
And their hard work is paying off, with just over £80,000 so far in the bank.
The appeal was recently boosted by £100 thanks to family friend Ashley Ferguson, who kindly donated the money.
Ashley organised the recent Where’s Wally night in Lancaster, which raised a substantial amount of money for the appeal.
The twins’ mum Caroline said: “We are so grateful to Ashley. She is a special girl!”
The Lancaster University Cricket Club event held on Friday at Revolution was a successful night which raised £2,500 for the twins.
Caroline said: “The place was full and a great night was had by all. I want to thank Matt and the boys from Lancaster University Cricket Club for organising this event for us, Revolution for hosting the event, Dancing DJ Lee for his brilliant djing, Dalton Girl group, who were fantastic, the Lancaster University Belly Dancers and the Lancaster University Magicians, who were amazing, and everyone who attended on the night and made it a massive success.”
The Royal Lancaster Infirmary race night organised by Sheena Pinder was also a very enjoyable night that raised more than £800 for the appeal.

Caroline added: “I also want to thank all the local businesses who supported the LUCC event and the race night event by donating raffle prizes.”
Caroline also added her thanks to everyone who donates either by putting their loose change in collection boxes around the city, at events or by donating on the appeal’s Just Giving Site.
The appeal has also recently been boosted by £4,000 from a recent FGH Security fundraiser. Caroline added: “Caroline and Wayne want to thank all the staff, clients and community for the support on the night!”
