24 hours on air to boost appeal

Two Lancaster University students are taking to the airwaves to support disabled Lancaster twins Katie and Emma Sutcliffe.
Katie and Emma suffer from spastic diplegic cerebral palsy and need wheelchairs to get around.
Backed by the Guardian, the twins are aiming to raise £85,000 to pay for pioneering treatment in America which could see them walk unaided for the first time.
The 16-year-olds have so far raised almost £76,000.
Tomorrow, Friday, at 4pm, students Ron Todd and Arthur Haynes will kick off a 24-hour Charity Radio Broadcast, live on student radio station 87.7 Bailrigg FM. Money raised will go towards the Twins Appeal.
The show will incorporate a mix of special guests, including the girls themselves, alongside quizzes, games and a variety of music.

Last Friday night saw £1,100 raised for the Twins Appeal at a rock ‘n’ roll night held at Lancaster Railway Club. Eddie and the Sunbeams performed at the successful event, while local woman Ashleigh Pedder had her head shaved for the appeal, raising more than £200.
In addition, bar worker Zac had his legs and chest waxed for the appeal, and also raised an impressive £200.
The twins’ mum Caroline said: “We want to say a huge thank you to the band and to Ashley and Zac for their support, and to all the wonderful people who came along to the event and made the night a success.”
