A FATHER and son made a panicked 999 call after they were trapped by the rising tide off the Lancashire coast.
The pair, who were from the Morecambe area, called the Coastguard after finding themselves trapped by the tide close to the Battery Hotel, in the resort.
They were discovered up to their waists in water and clutching their pet dog when the RNLI Inshore Rescue Hovercraft and Lifeboat from Morecambe reached them at around 8.30pm on Sunday.
Lifeboat operations manager Michael Guy said: “We encourage people to read sea safety notices and take extra care while walking on the sands as tides in the Morecambe Bay area can be dangerous.”
