RESIDENTS in Halton Green fear their lives will be blighted after a neighbour won a planning appeal to install giant solar panels in a field opposite their homes.

The mounted solar panels, measuring 7.5m by 2m, will be positioned in a field at Halton Green West in Green Lane a few metres from three houses.

Angry neighbours say they will be directly visible from their homes in Halton Green Cottages and Green Beck House.

Applicant Simon Tomlinson, who lives at Halton Green West, won his appeal after a planning application to Lancaster City Council in May 2011 was turned down.

It had been opposed by Halton Parish Council, as well as his neighbours.

Neighbours and Halton Parish Council claim they were not informed in time to make representations during the appeal process, which Lancaster City Council blamed on a “administrative error”.

They would now have to take the costly route of High Court legal action if they wish to pursue the matter.
