Unusual paintings on show
THE unusual paintings of two artists who work so closely together they literally paint the same picture are being exhibited in Arteria Gallery 23.
Philippa Eluem and John Pullen have a strange and mysterious chemistry which leads them to work in tandem on the same piece.
The pair, who met while training at the Chelsea School of Art and live in Cumbria, explore modern interpretations of botanical paintings and have already received high praise in galleries across the world.
Their work has been described as “quite triffid-like” by The Bircham Gallery in Norfolk and “beautiful and very original” by Annette Van Ommeren, owner of the online gallery Botanicalartists.com in New York.
Among those impressed was Jane Richardson who runs Arteria’s Gallery 23 in Brock Street, and the gallery is now host to the pair’s debut exhibition which runs until January 8.
